I am happy to provide copies of any briefs or pleadings in the case.  I sent 
my free speech brief to John Gilmore and Declan yesterday.  I don't have 
government briefs on my computer so I will mail copies.

John Gilmore was the most articulate trial witness I have seen in twenty 
years as a trial lawyer.  He certainly helped the case.

Also, let me be clear that the First Amendment issue is the crucial aspect of 
the case, in my opinion, and has been from the start.  This is a fascinating 
free speech case.  Any  comments about whether it is "too abstract" certainly 
don't reflect my opinion.  This does not mean, however, that plea to a 
substantially reduced charge would not have been  a valid choice.

13-page doc, which turns out to be more impressive, and persuasive, than

diversity and volume of participation in the cypherpunks list.

(Note that this is not representative of the list before Dec 1996,
during its heyday; the volume was higher then, but I don't have the
raw data handy to analyze.)
