I get caught up on two sticking points here. In order of importance,
if the cost of bandwidth starts falling faster than the cost of processing,
which it certainly might, what happens to the logic of the geodesic
network?
Second, and more important, why would I as a consumer want to monkey
around with a payments system that costs me my freedom to repudiate
transactions? Right now I can repudiate anything for months after
the transaction, usually with no penalty at all. (In real life the $50
minimum never gets imposed and besides, it doesn't apply anyway
in transactions with no signature.)
This is a very big plus for me, and why I never have and never will use debit
cards and use cash as little as possible.
Who would give that up and why?
