Highwinds Trading Company <http://www.highwinds.com> upgrades EnScrypt(tm)
to version 1.01, adding the Freebees(tm) osaxen to its cryptography
toolbox. In addition, the EnScrypt package now has script samples and full
documentation of methods for encryption, digital signatures and password
authentication.
What is EnScrypt (and FreeBees)?
Built as ÒScripting AdditionsÓ, EnScrypt and FreeBees are indispensable
tools for Macintosh software developers and script writers. Several
algorithims are supported in version 1.01, including "Blowfish" for fast
and secure encryption, and "SHA-1" for creating one-way hash codes.
EnScrypt uses "strong encryption" (56 bits and higher), and is released
subject to export restrictions. Prices and terms for licencing are
available upon request <mailto:support@highwinds.com>.
A free demo of EnScrypt called EnScrypt(Lite) is publically available. The
demo is strong enough for many security purposes but is not strong enough
to be used in critical applications because it uses 24 bit keys that are
generally considered as "weak" encryption. Scripts and scripted
applications built with EnScrypt(Lite) can be easily updated to operate
with EnScrypt.
