The sending of commercial advertising via e-mail has increased
markedly in recent years. The attraction for advertisers is that mass
transmission of junk mail is possible at a very low cost. This means
that they do not usually bother to target mailings of their
advertising, they simply try to reach the largest possible number of
computer users.

Through this petition we are appealing to the members of the European
Parliament and members of the national parliaments.
