MS Proxy with AIX

I have a TCP/IP network with a MS Proxy Server as the internet gateway.  I
am trying to set up an RS/6000  H70 running AIX to access the internet thru
the MS Proxy Server.  I have been running into numerous problems and was
wondering if anyone had any experience with this.  I have heard rumors that
MS Proxy Server is not SOCKS compliant and that could be the cause of my
problems.  I guess what I need to know is if there is a SOCKS proxy client
for AIX or if there are special things I need in order to deal with MS Proxy
Server.   Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.
