VNC (Virtual Network Computing) allows for that *today*. It is a sort 
of cross-platform PCAnywhere that is distributed under the GPL. You 
can access your environment (which can be an X-like session or your 
Windows machine) from just about anywhere without the need for 
installing extra software (requires Java). Can't beat that. ;-)
