[FW1] Firewall-1 spart 2.6 freezes

Gong,

All though is it strange that it happens on 2 machines,
it does not happen at the other 2.
So a configuration difference should not be the problem.

2 things come to mind.
	1.	Hardware e.g. CPU boards ATM adapter etc.
but also the power supplie, is it al needly grouden etc.
I've no experience with sparc solaris machines that
suddenly hang/freeze
but I've seem manu other systems just freeze just
because of a hardware issue.

	2.	Maybe some hacker tries to spoof and smurf. ???

Can you get a core dump from the /swap device ?
I've seen a free tool on the sun site to analyse these dumps.

Success.

Subject: [FW1] firewall "freeze" problem (Sparc, 2.6)

Hi all,

Among the 4 Firewalls that we've purchased in last June, two of them
started
making trouble for us. Over last 3 weeks one of them has "freeze" four
times, another has "freeze" once.

By using the term "freeze" I mean the firewall is completely dead, the
hard
disk light, CPU light is on, but keyboard is not responding, the machine
is
not reachable from network. After we power reset it and bring it up, it
seems that all system activities stopped at some time.

These four machine has exactly same hardware configuration. The
software
settings are also same. Actually we install everything we needed on one
of
them and use "rsync" to make replicate to other machines.

It is an Ultra Sparc machine with ATM card (155 Mbps) installed, Solaris
2.6, Check Point FW-1 version 3.0b. We have tried to download the
latest
patch for Solaris 2.6, SUN ATM driver and Check Point FW-1 from the WEB
and
applied them. The problem still happens.

Any hints/clue about the issue? What could be wrong?

Regards
