Robert,

We are running Arcserve on a daily basis and backing up the entire $FWDIR
directory on an NT platform.  The FW service is not interrupted at any point.
Also, you can look into coping the following files for backup purposes.  These
files are as follow:

$FWDIR/conf/fw.license
$FWDIR/conf/objects.C
$FWDIR/conf/*.W
$FWDIR/conf/rulebases.fws
$FWDIR/conf/fwauth.NDB
$FWDIR/conf/fwmusers
$FWDIR/conf/gui-clients
$FWDIR/conf/product.conf
$FWDIR/conf/fwauth.keys
$FWDIR/conf/product.conf
$FWDIR/conf/masters
$FWDIR/conf/fwauth.keys
$FWDIR/conf/smtp.conf
$FWDIR/conf/fwauthd.conf
$FWDIR/conf/fwopsec.conf
$FWDIR/conf/serverkeys.db
$FWDIR/state/local.arp
$FWDIR/databases/rulebases.*

You can also copy the the route table and the server ip configuration to a file
:
route print >> a:\route-table.txt
ipconfig /all >> a:\ip-config.txt
