No, that is not correct.  Check the obvious things first, such as if
you are running the firewall/dmz into a switch then ensure that the
speed/duplex on the ports match the speed/duplex on the Sun.  A
dramatic slow down in one direction such as your experiencing can
easily be because the hub is set full-duplex but the Sun is doing
half-duplex or vice-versa.
