[FW1] ROUTING SOLARIS

I'm fairly new to the firewall game and I'm not sure about routing
table.
Should I be able to ping from network to network.  The firewall is not
yet installed

The firewall can ping each device.
The host on 172.16.10.0 can ping all the FW interfaces
The host on 172.16.20.0 can ping all the FW interaces
The router on 208.248.170.248 can only ping 208.248.170.249 ext.
interface of FW
This router is configure with cisco ios ver.10.3 yes old, static route
of  ip route 208.248.170.0 255.255.255.0   The 208.248.170.248 dmz net
is conneted to e0 of the router utilitizing secondary ip address of e0
ip address 208.248.170.250 255.255.255.252 secondary.

I have tree interfaces hme0 hme1 and hme2.
Rip is not running.
IP forwarding is set to 1 (on)
defaultrouter is 248.208.170.250
networks 172.16.10.0    255.255.255.0 hme0 internal
                172.16.20.0    255.255.255.0 hme1 dmz
                208.248.170.249 255.255.255.252 hme2 external
