WS_FTP makes ftp authentication a breeze compared to command line ftp.
I assume that you have rules for user authentication of ftp in your rulebase
already set up.
I use WS_FTP version 4.20

When the connect dialog box appears click on the firewall tab.
Make sure "Use firewall" is checked first.
Set the "host name" to the FW-1 box, "user ID" to your valid FW-1 user code
and  password to your FW-1 password.
Set the port to 21.
The "Firewall Type" should be the last on the list: "USER
remoteID@fireID@remotehost"
