Your problem may be the fact that you are running FW-1 on a Xylan switch.
I was in an environment for 4 months that had over 20 FWs running on
Xylan switches. We found the two to be a very bad combination. Performance,
stability, and ease of use became critical issues. The client is in the
process of changing all their Xlayn Firewalls to Unix based Firewalls.

I know this was not the answer you wanted to hear, but you may want to
migrate you Xylan Firewall to a dedicated box, be it NT, Unix, or Nokia.
Not only could this solve your current problem, but it will save you
headaches in the future, especially if you start using more bandwidth.
