Re: [FW1] Cannot create /var/adm/utmp or /var/adm/utmpx
Kenny,
The reason you hit this is that when you installed fw-1 you selected the
option of installing an initial rule and that hosed the script
/etc/rcS.d/S30rootusr.sh without
In future:
a) don't take this option or
b) fix the script (I think there may be a fix in the fw-1 faq).
To mend your systems:
1) Boot into single user
2) remount you root file systems rw
2.1) cd /sbin
2.2) ./mount / -o rw,remount
2.3) ./mount /usr
3) copy the overwritten file from /etc/fw
3.1) cp /etc/fw/boot/S30rootusr.sh /etc/rcS.d/S30rootusr.sh
(not sure about the /etc/fw location)
4) reboot
5) remember to put in rules (unless you want a router).
I'm doing this from memory abd I think is 3.1 mostly right. If you can't
work out the exact info, mail me at dwhitlow@idsec.com and I'll forward
the exact commands.
Regards,
Dave
