Its fairly straight forward. I've done this on both x86 and Sparc,
on both 2.5.1 and 2.6. The nice thing is 4.0 is pkgadd format,
making the process straight forward and stable. Some hints.

1. As always, do a backup. If nothing else, backup /etc/fw/conf.
2. Anything that is not distribution will be lost if stored in
the /etc/fw directory. For example, I archived logs daily
to /etc/fw/log/archives. When I did the upgrade I lost these
logs because the software does not expect it there. Move any
goodies you added/created/modified/archived before the upgrade.
3. Remember, software is now stored in /var/opt and /opt, /etc/fw
is only a sym link to these directories. Many people,
including myself, partition /var, so watch out, you can fill
it by mistake. I highly recommend you make /var/opt/CKPfw/log
its own partition or harddrive, as this is where all FW-1
    logging will now go.

Those are the only majore gotchas I remember. All in all, a rather
painless experience. Good luck!
