Re: [FW1] Firewall-1 and DHCP (cable modem)

Hi,

First, you should generate you licence key using another interface than
te one connected to the cable modem because the IP address should not
change for the licence.

Then, anyway, each time your firewall is rebooting and your IP is
changing, you will have problem because the FW policy wont be up to date
and your box will reject the DHCP packets.

So if you cannot get a new IP address, you will not able to script in
order to modify the firewall policy and install it automatically...

I guess FW1 was not made for this kind of use

Fred

I was trying to run Firewall-1 on my system at home, but its
      not going well.
I have a cable modem (MediaOne service in Chicago), but the
      IP is given via
DHCP.  They even have a 24 hour lease (how is that for lame).

Anyway, installing FW-1 makes it impossible to get a lease,
      even if I wait
and start firewall-1 manually after a reboot.

      Is this possible at all?

      TIA,
      Chris

PS For those in the States, hope you have a good 3-day
      weekend.
