Rack Him!! I hate certs, but you do what you need to do to better your pay
or position. I think HR should handle this on a case by case basis. I think
that there are pros and cons. The hiring of IT personnel is tricky, but you
should know what type of person you are looking for. If they cannot get the
job done for you either get rid of them or get them trained. You will always
have two groups of people; experienced and entry level or mid level. Decide
what you need and choose. By the way this is not a HR or Certification
forum, lets stick to fw issues. I wish some the Certification crap would die
out, it is causing a rift between us as IT professionals.

Here is what I think:
So, we all know that certification can not measure ones experience on a
given product. The truth of the matter is: If you never went to college nor
done any Information technology courses, would you be in this business
today?
I guess not! So, Certification is one of the most efficient ways to enhance
ones career or to even begin it...

		TYPO in the previous mail

Someone once said; The true measure of intelligent is not
what you know, but how
fast you can look it up.

If they change the tests so that you have certain scenarios
to setup and test on
a real box then I will be impressed; but memorizing enough
information to pass a
multiple guess exam in no way makes a person a fw engineer.

*** The exams also include questions to test knowledge from
OUTSIDE THE
		COURSES ***

The coursebook should be enough IF you know the product
well anyway.
(If you DON'T know the product well enough to answer
'real world'
		questions
then I don't think that you can call yourself a fw
engineer can
		you?)
