[FW1] Weird DNS issue

Hi all - 

Having a strange problem that seemed to pop up when
upgrading from 4.0sp2 to 4.0sp4.

All internal clients + the FW itself resolves DNS from
an external source.  All the browsers are set to proxy
the FW for http and the clients have the external DNS
entries setup in the network properties.

There is one address that stopped working.  It happens
to be our web server which is external to our LAN. 
When anyone tries to get there, they receive - 

FW-1 at fw: Unknown WWW server. 

If I turn off the browser proxy, I can get there fine.
 

I guess my question is twofold - 

1) Who is actually resolving DNS in the above 2
scenarios - with proxy on & with proxy off.  The FW or
the client.

2) Does anyone have any ideas as to what may have gone
bump here?
