SAT is a load of bunk, that's what my company proves everyday....
THere a very few good tests in this world, most are coachable to acheive
"better than expected" results... look at the MSCE now, it's just like what
the CNE became years ago. People are passing these tests using stuff like
Transcender study drills. I've yet to interview an MSCE who really
understood the products. Understand is the key here, not answering a bunch
of questions correctly.
Just my $1.98 (2-cents adjusted for inflation).

Subject: RE:[FW1] Hello for CCSA Exam
Let me give a academic example. In high school one takes SAT. No
high school kid has to take this exam. They can always get a job and become
a millionaire to prove his brightness. But most college require it to weed
out the unqualified applicants. SAT is not the only measuring stick, most
colleges weigh GPA heavily into their calculation. Upon that they add
personality and and other activities to finalize their selection.
Above has been the procedure that academia adapted because it works.
SAT will be equivalent to certification program and GPA will be equivalent
to GPA.
We are just giving those poor hiring managers one more option to
calculate the value of an individual. All those smart high school students
who think they know a lot about Math and English should take the test and
apply to the best institution they can be accepted.
No one should say that "I am so smart that Harvard should accept me
but they require the SAT score to be high. But I would not spend the $100 to
take the test because I just don't like certification test Harvard want me
to take."
I believe in GPA but some students come from easy grading school.
Combination of SAT and GPA sure is not a bad idea.
As far as the CCSA test is concern, I think they should make it more
"firewall" than checkpoint. Increase the number of question to 100 (ha!)
include TCP/IP related question. Existing CCSA is a product certification
test, not even good at that. CCSE is about the same based on what I heard.
SAT is a very good qualification test. I just wish that computer
industries certification tests were as good. If you consider that CNE which
started all these were created just few years ago, I think industry is doing
a pretty good job. A+ I believe is one of the example of how certification
test works.
